The person in charge of the Ministry of Health Nigeria is the minister of health. The minister for health is Dr Osagie Ehanire and is a medical doctor who graduated from the University of Munich. He also attended Royal College of Surgeon in Ireland, Dublin where he obtained the Post Graduate Diploma in Anaesthetics and a Certificates of General Surgery and Orthopaedic Trauma Surgery. He has worked as an Anaesthesiologist in Germany before returning to Nigeria where he has worked at the University of Benin Teaching Hospital, Shell Development Company (SPDC).

Food and Drugs Services
This department is tasked with creating strategies, guidelines and polices on food, drugs and pharmaceutical. The department of Food and Drugs Services has five agencies under them. These agencies are;

- Institute of Public Analysts of Nigeria (IPAN)
- Pharmacists Council of Nigeria (PCN)
- Institute of Chartered Chemists of Nigeria (ICCON)

The hospital services department of the ministry of health Nigeria aims to provide a health service that is safe, affordable, accessible, and equitable. It has various divisions which include

Trauma/medical emergency response and disaster management division
This division creates policies on health emergencies and disasters. It also evaluates, monitor and supervises the policies.
Hospital services division
This division supervises the federal medical centres, specialist hospitals and teaching hospitals
Regulatory and professional school’s division
This division supervises Professional Associations and Professional academic bodies and Schools who train health workers and Health Regulatory Bodies in Nigeria.
Nursing division
The nursing division is in charge of nursing activities and has the Nursing and Midwifery Council of Nigeria under it.
National blood transfusion services division
This division coordinates the blood transfusion service in Nigeria.
Dentistry division
This division deals with oral health. They create policies on oral health and also evaluate, monitor and supervise the policies.

- Continuing Professional Discipline National Cancer Control Programme and Nuclear Medicine

e-Health/Telemedicine
This programme is at its early stage and would be coming up with e-health policies that will standardise the delivery of e-Health in Nigeria. It will make policies that will regulate online pharmacies, online consultations, and virtual clinics.
National Cancer Control Programme and Nuclear Medicine
This programme is in charge maintaining a Cancer Register in Nigeria, developing of cancer policies, including monitoring and evaluation of such polices.
